Chateau Doisy Vedrines 1999 750ml White

$150.00

Tasting Note:
Tasted at the Doisy-Védrines vertical at the château, the 1999 Château Doisy-Védrines is a noticeably deeper color and is almost identical in appearance to the 1990! It has a deep and less refined nose than more recent vintages with touches of marmalade, orange-blossom and apricot. It is a little oxidative, but nothing that detracts from the overall quality. The palate is medium-bodied with notes of mandarin, orange peel and pineapple, although it perhaps lacks some complexity on the finish with barley sugar and Clementine lingering on the aftertaste. Description

Doisy-Védrines is a 2ème Cru Classé Sauternes which belongs to the long-established Castéja wine family, and remains relatively little known by most wine lovers, due mainly to tiny production levels. The wines are renowned for their relative intensity and richness compared to Doisy-Daëne next door, but they are nevertheless far from being a heavyweight by the standards of the appellation. Their second wine, Petit-Védrines, is an exceptional value.

Sweet Dessert Wine.

Blend: 85% Semillon, 12% Sauvignon, 3% Muscadelle
