Lillian Official Website Certain gifts are given to the winemaker in California: the fruit will always ripen, it will never suffer from a lack of depth of character, of power. It is not our nature to lean away from these gifts or try to deny them by picking excessively early or by overcropping the vineyard….

  • Lillian Syrah 2012

    $155.00

    Tasting Note:
Inky purple. Hugely perfumed black and blue fruit aromas are complicated by suggestions of vanilla, incense and cola. Fleshy, palate-staining cassis and boysenberry flavors gain sweetness and spiciness with air, picking up licorice pastille and violet nuances that gain strength on the back half. Finishes smooth and sweet, with velvety tannins adding shape to a strikingly long, broad, spice-tinged finish. Josh Raynolds, Vinous.

  • Lillian Syrah 2013

    $155.00

    Tasting Note:
Youthful violet. Highly perfumed aromas of black and blue fruits, Indian spices, pungent flowers and incense, along with a smoky nuance that builds in the glass. Palate-staining black raspberry and boysenberry flavors show impressive depth as well as energy. An exotic floral pastille nuance comes up on the strikingly long, smooth, gently tannic finish, which displays a lingering suggestion of sweet dark berry liqueur. This wine’s combination of richness and elegance is pretty compelling. Josh Raynolds, Vinous, Nov 2017.

  • Lillian Syrah Gold Series No.3 2013

    $188.00

    Tasting Notes:
Lillian is not particularly Syrah-like. It doesn’t scream out the usual cocktail of blackberries, bacon fat, and lavender. It always feels a bit more about the people and the places than the varietal. The wines are lavish, but there is refined rocky quality in them that defies description. The 2013 vintage is no exception to this but it is a vintage that emphasizes the lace-like structure and perfume of the wine. Compared to recent vintages; the fruit is more intense than in 2011 and the tannins a bit more architectural. It has less of 2012’s salinity and has quite a bit more tension and energy.

Whiffs of dark cocoa, cigar and tobacco leaves with blackcurrants, spice and fruitcake populate the bouquet. • Protea Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 750ml Red

    $35.30

    Tasting Note

A beautiful deep ruby, the Protea Red immediately shows aromatic notes of blackberry, espresso and spice. On the palate, the wine is full and juicy. Balancing ripe fruit and subtle tannins, the blend is a versatile choice for food pairings, especially anything on the grill.

  • Protea Merlot 2015 750ml Red

    $35.30

    Tasting Note

Expressive black fruit aromas of plum, mulberry and cherry with a light brush of spice. The wine is softly textured, gentle and velvety throughout on the palate. Abundant rich flavours of plum and black cherry give way to a deeper liquorice note. The wine is structured, yet also round and supple, without being flabby. Extremely harmonious with a long lasting finish.

  • Protea Shiraz 2015 750ml Red

    $35.30

    Tasting Note

Gentle plum and blackberry compote aromas with a light pepper nuance. The first impression is of succulence: a juicy mouthful of ripe plum and blackberries. The smooth, silky texture is somewhat deceptive since the wine has a firm backbone but is well balanced, integrated and supple. Hints of tobacco leaf and liquorice can be found on the long, rich, lingering spicy aftertaste.

  • Tablas Creek Esprit de Tablas 2013 750ml Red

    $110.00

    Tasting Note

The 2013 Esprit de Tablas reveals a deep ruby color to go with lots of kirsch, black cherries, rose petal and underbrush. Full-bodied, nicely concentrated, with solid mid-palate depth and a great texture, it should drink nicely on release and keep for a decade or more. The Wine Advocate, 92-94 Points

  • Tablas Creek Esprit de Tablas 2014 750ml Red

    $107.00

    Tasting Note

The 2014 Esprit de Tablas has a powerfully expressive, nose with deep aromas of licorice and cherry liqueur given lift by spicy notes of pink peppercorn and mint. The mouth is luscious but still very young, with flavours of chocolate-covered cherries, a briny sea spray note, and serious tannins. The finish shows more baker’s chocolate and cherry cola notes, as well as a smoky berry element.
